SAGE Private Wealth Group Foundation Makes Donation to Three Organizations That Empower Women and Children in Chicagoland & Puerto Rico

Chicago — September 21, 2021 – SAGE Private Wealth Group Foundation announced the recipient organizations in Chicagoland and Puerto Rico for the 2021 charitable funding year. Three organizations that are empowering and supporting women and children were selected from among the numerous RFPs submitted.

Generous purpose-driven support is an essential tool and crucial step to both empower women in general and fight poverty through microfinancing interventions. Guided by the ethos of “doing well while doing good” and acting on this belief is the driving force behind the creation of the SAGE Private Wealth Foundation. SAGE Private Wealth Group donates a dime of every dollar of profit to the Foundation (sagepwgfoundation.org) with the mission to improve people’s lives and living conditions wherever they are in need. SAGE PWG Foundation’s Chairman Noha Elshareif-Taha stated, “We endeavor to translate years of plenty into support that empowers others to improve their socio- economics through education & access to capital via microfinancing. During times of crisis, such as a pandemic where shutdowns have impacted millions, we have a responsibility to step up to support those programs and organizations where we can.”

This year’s three recipients include a 2020 funding recipient, Bridge Communities – an organization committed to transforming the lives of homeless families. They provide free transitional housing, mentorship, and supportive services to transition homeless families to self-sufficiency. Since its founding in 1988, Bridge Communities has helped more than 850 families successfully cross the bridge from homelessness to self-sufficiency resulting in permanent housing and financial stability. “We are humbled and honored to receive a $9,000 grant from our friends at SAGE Private Wealth Group Foundation. This crucial funding is enough to safely house a family in our program for 9 months and provide all the wraparound supportive services needed to assist the family as they create a foundation for a strong, self-sufficient future. Thank you for your generosity and compassion for the families served by Bridge Communities.” said CEO, Karen Wells.

The second recipient of funding is LIFT located in Chicago, New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty with a focus on investing in parents, and what they call “An investment in hope, money and love.” CEO Michelle Rhone Collins, who joined in 2012, is passionate about standing up for equity and access for disenfranchised individuals. “We are thankful to the team at SAGE Private Wealth Group for their support of LIFT’s mission to break the cycle of poverty by investing in families. In the past year, 90% of our Chicago families have made progress on their income and education goals, and families who increased their income saw an average yearly increase of $19,500 after joining LIFT.” said Rhone-Collins adding, “Through our advocacy efforts, LIFT has connected parents to policy makers to champion direct cash support for families. This generous grant from SAGE PWG Foundation empowers us to continue delivering a transformative coaching experience for our beloved Southside LIFTers and to center the voices of our families, whose perspectives are often absent from policy discussions.”

A first in the history of the foundation is providing funding to an organization outside of the Chicagoland area with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico receiving a grant this year. “We were impressed by the support and dedication the B&GC of Puerto Rico provided to the community during these difficult times. Their facilities serve as a refuge for several families and especially children. They have been instrumental to the well-being and empowerment of children– both by providing some basic daily needs and, more importantly, providing a place of safety, hope, and compassion.” said Ms. Elshareif-Taha after touring the facilities in late Spring. “We thank SAGE Private Wealth Group Foundation for their generous gift to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico. We are thrilled to have their support, especially now that we are back to our Clubs providing face to face services after the pandemic, such as socio-emotional support, nutritious meals, tutoring, academic support, career exploration, and workforce development to mitigate the learning and opportunity gap of our children, youth and families.” explained Olga Ramos- Carrasquillo, Esq., President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico. “A donation to our programs is an investment in the empowerment of our people and the building of their future” she added.

Having concluded its fifth funding year SAGE PWG foundation continues to be encouraged by growing chorus and definitive action of Corporate Social Responsibility. They look forward to continuing to offer support to the exemplary organizations that are invited to the annual selection process.
